Short Biography

Rajesh Kumar is a forensic scientist, academician, and researcher, completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Forensic Science. He has been working in the area of automated forensic examination for more than sixteen years. His area of research includes Computational Forensics, Multimedia Forensics, Image Processing, and Pattern Recognition.  The research contribution of Dr. Kumar is well evident from his publications in journals of international repute.  He has been associated with several international conferences as a program committee member and served as a referee for several prestigious journals including IEEE Transaction on Cybernetics and IEEE Transaction on Information Forensic and Security. He has received research grants from the Directorate of Forensic Science Services, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, and Rajeev Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, Govt. of Maharashtra. Dr. Kumar has guided several students in their master's and doctoral theses. Two of his research papers had led to best paper awards by DFSS, MHA, GOI, New Delhi.

 Dr. Kumar was invited by various academic institutions and police departments including IIT, Bombay, and CBI Academy, Ghaziabad to deliver an expert lecture on various aspects of Forensic Science. He is a well-recognized system developer in the area of automatic signature verification, writer recognition, and alteration detection. One of his signature verification systems has been placed among the best four automatic signature verification systems around the globe.

 Dr. Kumar had been associated with several reputed forensic science laboratories of the country. He examined more than 300 cases related to speaker identification, tape authentication, CCTV footage analysis, image and video analysis, copyright act, and many more. He has also visited more than 100 crime scenes of diverse natures including motor vehicle accidents, fire and arson investigations, robbery, hanging, and CCTV footage analysis.

 Currently, Dr. Kumar is working as Head of the Department of Forensic Science at the Government Institute of Forensic Science, Aurangabad under the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Govt. of Maharashtra.

 For his contributions to the forensic community, Dr. Kumar was conferred upon Young Scientist Award by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
